The GSI Hyper SL sim racing wheel is backed by a 12 month limited warranty. This warranty covers you against manufacturer defects and issues.
If for some reason your GSI Hyper SL doesn't work as expected or is defective, simply contact us and we'll either repair your item under warranty or we may be able to offer a refund/exchange. The wheel has a lot to like, it's well built and finished (with one caveat) and the grips are really nice - the silicon they used is grippy but seems like it will last a long time, feels good in bare hands (which is lucky, because of the issue) and doesn't attract too much fluff, it's solid as it's made of Carbon and Aluminum and the buttons and dials all feel pretty great. The LED's are crisp and bright.
Now the cons - Most of these would be totally fine on a wheel around 1000, but this was over 2000 aud delivered, so keep that in mind if some of these sound petty.
- I get some rattling from some buttons sometimes, my Asetek wheel despite being a lot cheaper has never rattled.
- The Simhub profiles are not correct, with some of the telemetry effects not working like they should - you can fix it by editing the profiles, but you shouldn't have to.
- The LED's around the rotary knobs bleed into each other, so if you have distinct colours for each knob the sections closest to the other knob has to fight the colour of the nearby knobs making it look less nice than it should.
- The shifters are really close to your hands. You can't really adjust it much because of the design, so if you have big hands, you might find this really annoying, I've largely gotten used to it.
- The worst part is that there are some parts where the machining wasn't done well which are right where your thumbs sit because of the rough machining, I've ripped up a pair gloves and scratched my thumb just driving normally. Now I could file this down (and effectively damage the wheel and remove the anodisation around the affected area or hope that over time my thumb smooths it down, but, not something you should need to worry about with a wheel at this price point. I've logged a ticket with GSI and found today they had closed it without any response to the issue and somehow this was done without notification to me, I only realized because I went and checked - so not real happy about that. They may still do something about this, now that I've reopened it - but I just got the email from GGD to review, so here we are (sorry guys!).
This was my first big high end wheel purchase and I guess it wasn't everything I hoped it to be, some of these issues may not be an issue for others, but they really bugged me, when I was expecting near perfection and got defects that didn't happen even with Moza products.
